One week each September brings an annual opportunity to focus awareness on sexual violence and its prevention. It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of individuals and agencies that provide rape crisis intervention and prevention services while offering support to sexual assault survivors and their families. SAAW raises awareness of sexual violence and its prevention through special events while highlighting sexual violence as a major public health issue and reinforces the need for prevention efforts.
The SAAW Committee arranges for various events that occur throughout the week in September that culminates in a Take Back the Night march on Friday evening.
If you are interested in being a committee member for our SAAW 2009, please email Dr. Victoria Christofi at victoria-christofi@ouhsc.edu.
