Campus Events

HSC students, when not studying, are able to participate in a myriad of volunteer experiences, social events and leadership opportunities. Destress FestDeStress Fest

Every spring, Student Counseling Services hosts a day that serves our student population that have upcoming tests and deadlines. For our largest campus event, free food, drink, massages, live music and other “de-stressful” vendors treat our students to a much deserved break.

 

 

Miracle RunHSC Miracle Run

Each spring, the HSC Student Association and Children’s Miracle Network sponsor a 5k USATF sanctioned race and a one mile fun run/walk to raise funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. The race and fun run/walk take place on the beautiful HSC campus.

 

Block PartyBlock Party and Spring Fling

To celebrate the start of the fall semester and the culmination of the spring, students enjoy free food, music and give-aways at these Student Association and Stillwater National Bank co-sponsored events. Located on the newly refurbished East Patio underneath the warm Oklahoma sun, study stresses melt away.

 

Brown Bag Lunch with Bob StoopsBrown Bag Lunch Series

Educational and entertaining speakers host up to 15 free luncheons for students per semester in the David L. Boren Student Union. Past topics include Resume Writing, The Unwritten History and Culture of OU, Business Etiquette and How to Get Involved in Campus Life. Past speakers have included OU Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Sherri Coale and OU Head Football Coach Bob Stoops.

 

The WeeksThe Weeks

Students are often treated to week-long celebrations in the Union. HSC Student Affairs and the HSC Student Association sponsor Welcome Week and Winter Welcome Week at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters respectively. Traditions Week, also in the fall, celebrates OU’s Homecoming. During these events, food, give-aways and entertainment pepper the hallways of the David L. Boren Student Union.

 

MulticulturalMulti-Cultural Events

The OU Health Sciences Center is proud of its diverse student population. Events that are held throughout the year include Diversity Week, Asian Food Fair, Cultural Heritage months and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

 

Fitness CenterFitness Center and Intramurals

Free for students and open year round, the HSC Fitness Center is located on the 2 nd floor of the David L. Boren Student Union. Also available for student use is a sand volleyball court, basketball half-court and football field located on the east side of the Union. Organized intramural tournaments that take place on those facilities include football, basketball, softball and weekend soccer and volleyball tournaments.
